We are all excited. Coming To America 2 just dropped!
After more than 30 years of eagerly waiting, audiences from all over the world have finally been treated to the continuation of a story they have loved.
I never got to watch Coming To America all through my childhood. From the title, and because I am African, I had been dismissing it as that cliché story of an African who moves to the first world and is shocked by flushing toilets, elevators, escalators, huge billboards and the other first-world “sorcery”. I thought the movie would spread stereotypes by making him look foolish and naive while trying to push it as hilarious for commercial gain. How wrong was I!
When I got to watch it a few years ago, I loved it immensely and I got very excited when I read the announcement that a sequel was in the works. Luckily, I am one of those fans that didn’t have to wait 30 years for this. The previous one was also fresh on my mind and I couldn’t wait to see what shenanigans Prince Akeem would get into next.
Nostalgia
The new movie released just a few days ago is exciting. It is funny and is a trip down memory lane. Packed with many of the 90’s movie stars that we grew up loving, it comes along with its fair share of nostalgia as we get to reminisce on the good old days.
