#Influencerchallenge On TikTok: Lessons
We all must have seen the viral #influencerchallenge on TikTok where a person randomly films a video in close proximity to a spouse, partner, sibling, friend or parent pretending to be an influencer saying all these obvious lies to their ‘followers' with the punchline being that they are filming the reactions of the person close to them and not themselves.
And these reactions are hilarious. From them opening their eyes wide in amazement to outbursts of laughter to blatant objections.
As entertaining as the challenge is, it brings out some truths.
- People are nosy
Because the ‘influencer' is talking to their followers, the person in the room ( the target of the joke who is usually pretending in many videos to not be bothered) has no business reacting to what is being said.
Turns out they are all snooping in!
Are people nosy or what?😂
2. The lies and exaggerations on the Internet — and we are aware
The #influncerchallenge pokes fun at the obvious lies and exaggerations on the internet, and reveals that we are all well aware that the internet is full of them.
Had it not been for the person we see on the screen reacting to the words being said, chances are we would believe the fabrications of the ‘influencer’ we were on our own.
This leaves the question. Are influencers genuine?
3. People don’t like others to be lied to
The obvious objections when the person listening in calls the fake influencer out reveals that as much as we are aware of the lies on the internet, we will not be accomplices to propagating them.
