I love Dave Chapelle. He is one of the greatest to ever do it. Even though Chris Rock is in my estimation the funniest stand-up comedian ever, Dave Chapelle’s content is great too.
I have watched several of Chapelle’s specials on Netflix and I enjoyed them. I didn’t always agree with some of his opinions but I admit I have chuckled and even laughed hysterically at his jokes.
Dave Chapelle is opinionated. He shares his opinions about various subjects in his comedy and delivers them with talented and funny wit. The comedian also stands his ground whenever some of his jokes face some backlash. He is after all entitled to an opinion.
In his latest Netflix special The Closer, he begins by saying that this will be his last special in a minute and uses the next 70 or so minutes to address the various accusations that have been leveled at him during his career. Focusing mainly on the accusation that he is transphobic.
Chapelle in the special makes several jokes about the LGBTQ community and asks them to laugh with him at them.
The audacity!
Yes, I agree many of the jokes in the special were funny. And I laughed at them. Shamelessly! I did feel bad at laughing at some of those jokes because some - especially the one questioning the validity…
