I have never disagreed with an article. In 20 years, the home will be worth much much more. You can pass it on as an inheritance to your children keep them off renting. With your own home you can do whatever you like to it without a landlord to consult. Rather than stay in the comfort zone of little rent, why not motivate yourself to work harder and buy a home in cash or in less time?
