I cried every single time I saw Jesus of Nazareth as a child. During Easter, you were sure to watch it as TV stations never failed to air this touching television series.
It starts so beautifully just like in the Bible story. A virgin conception, a supportive Joseph, a young Jesus as he gets lost in the temple. It shows John the Baptist baptising him, the wedding in Canaan where he turned water into wine, his sermons among other focal points in the life of Jesus of Nazareth is also portrayed.

The film focuses on Jesus as human and as divine. He is soft, approachable and relatable, and yet godly and heavenly. Robert Powell brings out these characteristics so well. There is so much calmness in his voice and demeanor that he completely captivates you from start to finish. His stellar performance is one of the core reasons why this series is so great. Four decades later, no Christian television series even comes close.
After the beautiful story of the teachings and the miracles, the tragic part about Jesus’ betrayal, arrest, humiliation, torture, crucifixion, death, and resurrection is a huge attraction of the series. And that’s why it is considered an Easter classic.
