A metaverse is a virtual space where people can meet, work, shop, play, socialise etc.
In short, it is a place where humans can meet up and do exactly what they do in real life or more. Only that this time around these interactions are in graphically rich digital spaces enabled by the internet and high tech gadgets such as virtual reality headsets.
Also, think about the metaverse as a super upgraded internet. As opposed to a user being behind the screen of their phone or computer to interact with others as it is on the internet, one is experiencing it through virtual reality in the metaverse.
Also, instead of a user name or an account name like we do on the internet, an avatar is what one uses for interactions on the metaverse.
Imagine yourself as a character whether a mouse, cat, alien, transformer, your favourite celebrity, historical figure etc and imagine yourself doing all the things you do in real life and others that you would wish to do in a virtual world. Be it on a beach, on the Titanic, in a nightclub, on top of Mount Everest etc. That’s the metaverse.
