Dear Parent Of A Child Content Creator, Are You Protecting Or Exploiting Your Child?

Ten questions you should ask yourself

You do know that viral story of the social media influencer mum. After years of including her adopted autistic son in her platform, using him to gain and maintain a following and to earn money from product placements and advertisements on her YouTube channel, she re homed the child because his needs in her words were too overwhelming for her.

I do not mean to judge. And I am not in a position to imply to be well versed with what is best for that child. But when did he become overwhelming exactly. Was it before she made $ from him, during or after?

Also did the child get a share of these earnings?

Did she set up an account where she remitted some percentage of the earnings for him to access when he is older or where she will remit future earnings of the revenues derived from the YouTube videos that might be still be online that he featured in?

How do you think the poor child is going to feel when he is old enough to process all that happened? How will it affect his mental health?

This might be the case for many other child content creators as has been reported by many other former child stars.
