As a trained economist, I completely disagree. Emigration can never solve the poverty problem as the problem itself is multilayered.

Yes, it might increase the money supply in a country due to the transfer payments made by those working abroad, but to truly beat poverty, this money has to be invested to bring about local production that creates jobs locally.

Poor countries also need to export finished products as opposed to raw materials in your example of tea.

I could go on and on but emigration is not the solution. It carries its own issues such as brain drain and exported labour. Citizens spend time building other economies instead of theirs etc…
