The majority of the world has not yet recovered from the shock of the revelations in the latest top Netflix documentary The Tinder Swindler.

It tells the stories of three women who were defrauded thousands of dollars by Israeli born convicted serial fraudster Shimon Hayut. They matched with him on Tinder where he posed as Simon Leviev a wealthy businessman with dealings in the diamond industry that allowed him to travel all around the world.

The con artist would then lure the women on expensive dates in five-star hotels, love bomb them with wonderful gestures and manipulate them into loving him. After a while of knowing them, he would fake security threats on his part and ask these women who at this point considered themselves his girlfriends to take out credit cards and loans in their names or to lend him money so that he could navigate safely through the security threats he was allegedly facing.

The women would comply of course in the belief that they were helping out someone they cared about. Oblivious of the fact that they were involved in a well-orchestrated Ponzi scheme whose core goal was to fund the fake luxurious lifestyle of this fraudster.
