I am not a parent yet, but I am somebody’s child and can tell the positive and negative instances of the parenting I received. I also observe other parents and their parenting styles and can point out what seems to work and what doesn’t.
In addition, I listen to other people when they speak about the parenting they received, their opinions about it and how it affected them and their lives. Whether positively or negatively.
Many parents desire to raise children that are respectable people and those that contribute to the betterment of society.
Sometimes, they are successful and due to their actions, sometimes they are unsuccessful and could even be toxic.
Here are some toxic mistakes that parents make when raising their children.
Pitching your children against one another
A family is supposed to be a healthy nurturing unit. Not a competition platform. Parents that raise their different children to feel like some of their different capabilities are more valuable or less valuable than those of their siblings may harm their children.
